Birds of prey Dec. 5 at Wild Birds Unlimited in Mission Viejo

An American kestrel is often among the birds that visit.

A mockingbird pecks at the Bark Butter on this pinecone birdfeeder.
Wild Birds Unlimited in Mission Viejo will host the Orange County Bird of Prey Center on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteers from this non-profit center bring non-releasable raptors that have become education ambassadors.  Birds often include a burrowing owl, a great-horned owl, Harris hawk and American kestrel.

In addition, children are invited to make a free pinecone birdfeeder, which is covered with Bark Butter and shelled sunflower seeds.  It makes a great gift and birds go nuts for it!
