American robins flock in search of food

American robins are often portrayed as the classic harbinger of spring, but in reality, these birds are present in most of the United States year-round.

Two days ago, we were visited by a small flock. At one point, there were ten bathing and drinking. Robins are nomadic, and often flock with cedar waxwings in winter in search of food.

American robins live in most of California year-round.  But there are also migrating robins that have wintered in Mexico and Central America that move northward through California in February and March.
Happy Birding!
