It's officially nesting season

Birds don't need a calendar to tell them it's spring.  Hummingbirds, mourning doves, Western bluebirds and many others are already in the process of building and sitting on the nest.

Do the birds a favor, put off trimming trees and shrubs until the end of summer. Birds need plenty of foliage for protection against predators.  For more information, go to OC Register Tree Trimming.

And please keep cats indoors.  Fledglings often hop around on the ground before they're strong enough to fly.
