Crows band together to run off predators

Top photo: A flock of crows mob a hawk, seen in the tree on top left.  Above: An angry American crow squawks at a Cooper's Hawk.   Photo by J.J. Meyer
Did you know that crows have at least 250 different calls?  Their distress call can bring unrelated crows to their aid.  Crows will band together to mob hawks, owls, cats and raccoons.

The angry crow photo was taken yesterday when a Cooper's hawk was sitting in a tree nearby.

Happy birding!
