Fewer goldfinches at your feeder?

Goldfinches flock to nyjer seed feeders.
You may be seeing fewer goldfinches at your feeder now because they are off nesting in the canyon areas. They prefer areas with shrubs and scattered oaks, so you're likely to find them in areas such as Caspers and O'Neill Parks. Lesser goldfinches nest later in the year than any other finch. Most believe it's because of the abundance of seeds available in late summer.
But don't give up on these beautiful birds. They'll be at backyard feeders again in a month or two, along with their offspring.

     Happy birding!
